Ectropion and entropion of the eyelids are disorders affecting the skin of the eyelids.
Ectropion is defined as the outward turning of the lower eyelid. Because the eyelid cannot close properly due to this outward rotation, the patient experiences excessive tearing, a foreign body sensation, mucous discharge, and impaired vision.

Entropion is the inward turning of the eyelid and usually affects the lower eyelid. As the eyelid turns inward, the eyelashes come into contact with the eyeball, rubbing against it and causing intense irritation, discomfort, redness, tearing, and eye pain.
Correction of Ectropion and Entropion
Both ectropion and entropion of the eyelids can be surgically corrected under local anesthesia before they cause permanent damage to the eye and the patient’s vision. They are corrected easily and with very good results.
